8 Ways to Embrace Your Inner Unicorn

Everyone is a special snowflake…and that’s AWESOME.

We are each uniquely created in our own special way, and not one other person on the planet is exactly like me or you. You have your own one-of-a-kind strengths, weaknesses, pet peeves, personality traits, character, likes, dislikes, desires, dreams, hopes, fears, attitudes, experiences, preferences, beliefs and a worldview that allows you to experience and influence the world in a way that no other person has been or will ever be able to again. You….my friend…are a unicorn.

You are a beautiful, majestical creature of majesticness that is one-of-a-kind and completely rad on every level. You are a shiny, sparkly, rainbow glitter, silvery blooded magical being with superior strength, stealth, sexiness and super extraordinary powers, and no…I am not making this up. You are a unicorn…you just need to embrace your unicorn-ness.

So what does this mean exactly?

Well, in a nutshell, it means its time to embrace all of the awesome YOU-ness that you possess and make it work for you.

It’s time to really accept yourself as you are, flaws and all, and go out and conquer the world the way you were meant to.

It’s hard sometimes, though, to get past all of the shoulda, woulda, couldas. It’s hard to get past the “I’m nothing special” mentality that forces us to believe that we are “just” a simple person with nothing in particularly fantastic to offer the world. It’s hard to get over wanting everyone to accept us or approve of us. We desperately want acceptance, and many of us search for that acceptance our whole lives, working hard to act like we think others want us to act, be like others want us to be, and do what others want us to do…but here’s the kicker…doing that dance is like begging for carbon dioxide. It’ll slowly drain the life right out of you. Even those who shout at the top of their lungs that they don’t give a hoot what other people think will occasionally have those moments of doubt where they wish someone would just pat them on the back and say “good job kiddo”. It’s time to put that to rest. It’s time to stop trying to be second rate version of someone else and fully step into the fullest expression of yourself.

It’s time to SPARKLE MORE. It’s time to EMBRACE your inner unicorn.

Here’s 8 ways that you can work toward manifesting all of your unicorn powers…

  1. Acknowledge that you ARE a unicorn!
    • There are a million tiny and gigantic things that make each of us unique. Know that YOU, my friend, are already a wonderfully rare and beautiful creature that cannot be duplicated, no matter how hard someone might try. You have special gifts, talents, strengths and yes, even weaknesses and flaws that make you the perfect person to be 100% authentically YOU and 100% able and capable of fulfilling a destiny and purpose that only YOU can perfectly fulfill. You don’t have to try to be a unicorn…you don’t have to become a unicorn…you already ARE a unicorn!!!
  2. Know Yourself
    • You can’t allow yourself to BE yourself, or accept yourself as you truly are unless you know yourself. Take time to really get to know who YOU are…
      • Apart from the expectations of others
      • Apart from that nasty negative-nancy voice in your head
      • Apart from the insecurities that nag at you and tell you that you can’t (guess what…that is NOT part of who you are…being shy may be part of who you are but being insecure is LEARNED…another post for another time!)
      • Apart from what others say about you
      • Apart from what you have tried to be
    • Dig deep and acknowledge your strengths…the things that make you stand out from the crowd. What makes you different? What are your gifts? What are your talents? Where do you find your passion? What do you bring to the table?
    • What are your weaknesses? OWN THEM!!! Know what they are and acknowledge them. Stop trying to hide your imperfections. They are what make us, and sometimes what break us and knowing them will give you a leg-up on how to avoid breaking.
    • Identify your triggers, you emotions, your reactions…know what moves you…know what shakes you, and know what holds you back. Know your dreams and hopes. Know you past failures. Know where you are going.
    • Take all the time you need to know yourself…develop your strengths, work on your weaknesses, and then….
  3. Love Yourself!!!!
    • Love yourself for EVERYTHING that you are.
    • Be confident in yourself and WHO you are!
      • Confidence and self-love is not synonymous with arrogance or proving yourself…confidence and self-love is acknowledging who you are, accepting who you are, patting yourself on the back and saying..hey buddy, not everyone may like you, but you are fantastical, today and everyday and I LOVE YA! It’s being content with who you are and where you are at and knowing, inside and out that you are good enough.
    • Stop that negative crap talk in your head. Tell it to shut-up. Literally. Seriously. Stop it. Like, in the middle of target when you see that cute dress, or you think you might want to grow a beard and your stupid self-doubt mantras start up saying “that would look awful, you could never pull that off”, out loud…at the total expense of looking crazy, just tell yourself to can it and go rock that dress/beard.
  4. Let Go of Competition
    • Competition is the biggest killer of happiness. Let it go. When we focus on pitting ourselves against others, we lose sight of who we are and what we bring to the table. We start trying to out-bid, out-do, one-up, and out-shine others and in the process, we stop doing our own thing. We focus on what we don’t have, instead of focusing on what we DO have. Learn to be grateful in everything, recognizing all that you HAVE and claiming abundance in your own life. Don’t do to impress or sparkle more than others…learn to sparkle more for yourself. Learn to say “good for them” instead of trying to duplicate a life that isn’t yours.
  5. Allow Your Soul to Motivate You
    • Science, psychology and all the other important subjects will tell you, external motivation is cool and everything, but INTERNAL MOTIVATION is where it’s at. Whatever you belief…we all have a soul…a spiritual center…an energy…an essence inside of us. It’s our core. It’s our vibration. Our resonance deep down inside. THIS is where our unicorn lives. It’s our very being. It’s what makes you who you are and it is, or SHOULD BE, your driving force.
    • We’ve all heard the sayings: “Go with your gut” and “Follow your heart/bliss”. There’s truth in those sayings. You have an internal drive, a purpose, and a passion that you were BORN WITH…and let me tell you, when you tap into that, it’s a force to be reckoned with! Stop fighting it! You’re light and motivation should come from here…not from your friends, your lover, your parents, your kids, your dog, your job, your social status, your money, or anything else. Your soul should motivate you TOWARD those things, and not the other way around. Listen to your heart, your soul, your internal motivation…it’s talking to you and its moving you toward your vision and purpose.
  6. Believe in Your Own Magic
    • You know you are a unicorn, so believe in your own magic! You have everything that you need to do exactly what you were meant to do. You are a miracle. You are a beautiful soul. You have a staggering abundance of sparkly unicorn energy just waiting to burst out of you (yes, guys, this means you too!). You are unrepeatable. Believe that you have what it takes to do and be anything…because if you don’t, no one else will.
  7. Do things AFRAID
    • Sometimes, you are going to be afraid…do it anyway. Fear is a natural response to risk, and sometimes, of course, we need to heed that warning…but other times, we need to let it go. When fear holds us back from doing what we feel in our hearts is our divine purpose…when fear keeps us from moving toward our destiny…when fear keeps us from fulfilling our purpose, we need to let go and DO IT ANYWAY. Fear can utterly defeat us if we let it. It can steal our joy, and it can keep us from being the magical unicorn we were meant to be. It’s time to embrace the fear, acknowledge it…tip your hat to it, if you will……and then flip it the middle finger. Sure change is hard…but you can either struggle through the temporary fear and pain of the change…or you can suffer through living the rest of your life too afraid to take the risk and move forward. I dare you to MOVE.
  8. Stop Trying to Be & Just BE
    • Did you ever notice how people who are loved, followed, memorable and adored are completely and unapologetically themselves? We love our favorite authors, actors, sports heros, celebrities, relatives, friends, etc…because they are who they are. They are unapologicatically raw. They say what they mean and they mean what they say. They don’t try to fit in, they don’t try to be normal, because it would hinder their uniqueness. They don’t have to try to be unique, because they already acknowledge, accept and LIVE who they are to the fullest and their unique qualities sparkle and shine effortlessly. We can do impressions of those people and others will easily guess who it is. We associate them with particular habits, and mannerisms, because they are letting their natural, authentic personal brand come out. On good days, bad days and everything in between, they are who they are. People are naturally drawn to people who are authentically themselves and who embrace their inner unicorn. They don’t try to be …they just ARE.

Embracing your inner unicorn will not always be easy. Not everyone is going to like you for who you are…that’s hard but it’s okay. If someone doesn’t like the real you, do you really want them hanging around? Being your authentic self might place you outside of the inner circle of society…and at first that can be a lonely place to be, but something magical happens when you embrace and begin to show your inner unicorn…

The people who love the REAL YOU will begin to be attracted like a magnet to your sparkle and you will find your tribe. People will start to see you as the glittering beast of awesomeness that you truly are and you will become an inspiration to those around you. When you are blissfully, powerfully YOU, you will change the world. It might not always be an earth shattering change, but you will become a leader in your own right, breaking down barriers and walls that you thought were impossible to surmount and your uniqueness will begin to fulfill your purpose.

So go ahead….run, gallop, and leap!

…Allow yourself to SPARKLE MORE…

Be the Bad-Ass Unicorn You Were Meant to Be!
